Binge Eating, Eating Imbalances and Eating Disorders

People whom Binge Eat usually eat much more food than those that are much more controlled in their eating habits.

Binge eaters, erratic eaters and people with eating disorders such as bulimia have a tendency to eat quickly.

A majority of stressed persons eat quickly, eating that quickly doesn’t allow the stomach to register to the brain a feeling of satiety. This pattern becomes an emerging cycle of eating as a satisfier for feelings other than hunger.

There are so many reasons people eat for incorrect reasons. Many eat as a habit when they are upset- They mood eat. They can’t stop even when full.

Binge eaters are capable of habitually eating once a week in this manner. The age groups most affected are mostly in the younger age bracket and middle age, although some elderly people can also take part.

Family eating patterns are an influence too. Emotion driven binging is very common. The point of this is to soothe oneself, to help cope with difficult feelings or indeed to suppress feelings, at other times simply boredom can be an instigator, and as a distraction to avoid doing certain tasks.

Human beings in toxic relationships as a way to make themselves feel better sometimes find ways to eat more, to alleviate their own thoughts of unworthiness instead of just for nutrition.

BUT it’s about what’s in Your MIND- Not what is Eating You! To remedy this, You must change what you THINK specifically.

Comfort food is sought by those that feel emotionally Empty. The Stomach is the seat of ALL emotions.

Even young children quickly learn to communicate that they have a tummy ache when they can’t express their emotions.

Mankind has used food as a means to deal with problems. We try to satisfy our emotional emptiness with food.

Starved, hungry, empty, full, satisfied-these are ALL emotional words.

Popular idioms such as : ‘Starved of attention’, ‘Full of Love’, ‘Hungry for success’, ‘Satisfied with Life’, ‘Empty since kids left home’, distinctly show a correlation of how the words we use are linked to our emotions, and clearly how words can significantly affect our eating patterns in subtle ways.

We are always telling ourselves that sweet stuff makes us happy, this is shown in the nick names we give our loved ones eg ‘Sugar’, ‘Sweetheart’, ‘This is my Honey’, ‘My Sweetie’.

Our mind gets so confused, it reminds us to eat. After all when You were a little baby and you cried-someone picked you up and put something creamy and sweet in your mouth and everything was resolved.

When this happened You felt connected, You felt loved.

Overeating, binging, eating imbalances and some eating disorders are an ‘act of love’ to yourself in spite of it being literally detrimental in the long run.

It’s an inborn thing to reach for the wrong foods under these circumstances- No one thinks ‘I’m having an awful day-Pass me the vegies!’

We do say ‘I’m having such a bad day-I need a treat!’ That frequently translates to an item of a milky , creamy, macaroni cheese type of craving.

Fighting the subconscious mind is an uphill battle if you attempt this with logic. In a battle between logic and emotion. Emotion ALWAYS Wins. It’s not about discipline for most people.
